Give Me Liberty Blog Assignment #1

Chapter 4 (Page 129): What factors led to distinct African-American cultures in the eighteenth century?

There are three factors caused the distinct African-American cultures- the environment, the social ability, and the population of slaves.

The Environment of different colonies is one of the reasons that caused the distinct Africa-American culture. For example, the healthful environment of Chesapeake provide a chance for slaves to reproduce their population, while the low birthrate in South Carolina and Georgia was caused by the harsh conditions.

The social ability is another reason for unique African-American culture. In New York slaves had more freedom of their live. They could gather together for holidays.

The population of slaves is as important as other two reasons. The best example for that is the colonies in Georgia. With large amount of population, slaves stayed with their own African-American culture more closed to African's, the house, and the language.
